First presentation of the Alan Moss Award
The AAPT are delighted to announce that Wynnona Dewbery RSciTech is the first ever recipient of the Alan Moss Award
The AAPT was delighted to present the first ever Alan Moss Award at this year’s Annual Educational Event (AEE), established in memory of our late Chair, Alan Moss, who sadly passed away in 2025.
Alan was a passionate advocate for Anatomical Pathology Technologists, with a particular commitment to education, training and continuing professional development (CPD). The award celebrates those same values and recognises an APT who has demonstrated a strong commitment to their own learning and professional development.
We were especially pleased that Mrs Nicola Moss, Alan’s wife, was able to attend the AEE to present the award in Alan’s memory. It was a particularly special moment for the AAPT, and a fitting way to honour Alan’s contribution to the Association and to the profession he cared so deeply about.
The first recipient of the Alan Moss Award is Wynnona Dewbery RSciTech MAAPT, who was recognised for the quality of her CPDMe portfolio. The judges commented:
“The reflection for each diary entry is of a high standard, with clear indication of how new knowledge will be used or how existing knowledge or skills have been cemented. There is a broad range of CPD activities on display, making this candidate's portfolio a very interesting read.”
Wynnona received £100 along with the physical award, which will be presented annually at the AAPT Annual Educational Event.

It was wonderful to have Nicola with us for this special occasion. Everyone at the AAPT will know how proud Alan would have been to see the Association continuing to grow and develop, while supporting a new generation of APTs who share his passion for learning, education and professional development. The Alan Moss Award provides a lasting tribute to that commitment and ensures that Alan’s contribution to the profession will continue to be remembered and celebrated.
