National Forum for HTA Designated Individuals

Paul Hartfield FAAPT, Head of Mortuary Services and HTA DI at University Hospitals Sussex, has created a National Forum for HTA Designated Individuals

The purpose of this forum is to support DI’s across the UK by providing a collaborative space to learn, share best practice, raise challenges, and strengthen professional standards under the Human Tissue Act.

The forum exists to strengthen governance, compliance, and collaboration across NHS organisations by supporting Designated Individuals in fulfilling their statutory responsibilities under the Human Tissue Act. Through shared learning, strategic engagement, and professional development, it ensures ethical, consistent, and high-quality practices in the management and use of human tissue, safeguarding public trust and advancing healthcare excellence.

Paul will also host quarterly meetings to promote ongoing collaboration and collective problem-solving. Dates will be confirmed in due course, and all DI’s will be notified in advance.

Paul would like to invite all DI’s to join. Please could you bring this to the attention of your DI’s, emphasising the importance of national collaboration, consistency, and shared learning in meeting statutory responsibilities.

If preferred, colleagues may also email to express their interest.
