Coronavirus: UK officials told to create extra mortuary space
Ministers have warned a widespread outbreak of coronavirus in the UK could lead to an increase in deaths among the vulnerable and elderly
A 26-page government document outlining the potential scale of disruption reveals that in the event of mass sickness, police services would focus on responding only to serious crimes and maintaining public order while the NHS would be forced to discharge patients and cancel operations.
The army could also be called in to support civil authorities.
