Mortuary Benchmarking (including services provided and banding)

Survey from Great Western Hospital in Swindon who are looking to benchmark bandings against other mortuaries

From, Holly Davies, Anatomical Pathology Technologist:

I am an APT employed at the Mortuary Department at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, currently studying for my RSPH Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science (APT).

Over the past decade our service has changed greatly, meaning the APTs not only run the Mortuary but also Bereavement Services and now we also cover the Medical Examiner Officers, all with only 3 members of staff.  We feel as a team that our expanding role is not rightly represented in our pay, which is traditionally very low and our Trust is very reluctant to address this.

I am sure we are not alone in this situation.  As such, we are hoping to benchmark what services other Mortuaries provide and what banding their APT's are so that we may take this to our Trust board to demonstrate the change in the APT role and hopefully result in a rebanding process of the APT role.

We would really appreciate if you took the time to complete our survey for your individual mortuaries. We are happy to share our end results once our data has been collated. You can contact me by email if you have any questions.
