Professional Registration Update



Registered APT’s:

On September 1st the successful migration of voluntary registers from the Voluntary Registration Council (VRC) to the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) took place.
To date there are 71 Anatomical Pathology Technologists (APTs) on the voluntary register held by the Academy of Healthcare Science. 

APTs who hold a current certificate of Voluntary Registration from the VRC will soon be receiving a subscription renewal letter from the AHCS. You will be required to renew your registration with the Academy and will be asked to adopt the academies Good Scientific Practice as your new Code of Conduct.

The Academy will be conducting a random CPD audit of registered groups, which will include registered APTs.  If you are selected for the audit you will be contacted directly by the Academy.


Becoming a registered APT

If you are a Diploma holding APT, or you have held the Certificate qualification for over 4 years, you are eligible to apply for Voluntary Registration with the AHCS.
The application process can now be completed on line via the AHCS website including payment.
You will need to complete a Certificate of Competence Application before you can formally apply for registration. http://www.ahcs.ac.uk/the-register/join-the-register/.
The formal registration process in now in two parts; the first section of your application will be assessed by the Academy. Once that assessment is complete you will be asked to submit profession specific supporting evidence that will include details of relevant CPD activity.
