Anatomical Pathology Technician

Salary: Band 5, Permanent (£21,236 - £27,429 pa)

37.5 hours per week

A full time vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to join our busy and friendly mortuary department as an Anatomical Pathology Technician. You should be familiar with all aspects of mortuary business and be able to maintain the high standard of work expected.

Wexham Park Hospital covers the East Berkshire area, dealing with around 2000 deaths and approximately 700 coroners post mortems annually. Applications are invited from individuals who hold the Certificate or Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology. You will be expected to provide technical support, advice and consultancy to staff, bereaved relatives and healthcare professionals.

You will be familiar with the Human Tissue Authority and Clinical Pathology Accreditation and be able to work toward maintaining both our licence and accreditation. There is a 24 hour on call service which you will take part in on a rota basis.

Senior Mortuary Technician

Salary: From £28,014 up to £30,774 pa
(Plus the potential to earn a bonus of up to 15% through Performance Related Pay. Approximately £2,200 (pa) out of hours call out allowance)

Westminster City Council's public mortuary deals with over 600 Coroner's cases a year. The mortuary has recently had a new forensic suite built and is a dedicated disaster mortuary for Inner West London.

A Senior Mortuary Technician is required at Westminster City Council's public mortuary, to contribute proactively to the overall running of and develop short and medium term strategies to deliver the mortuary service. They must maintain an awareness of all legislation, professional development and new initiatives nationally and locally in respect of the mortuary service. The succesful candidate will be able to supervise and lead by example the Mortuary Technicians and trainees in carrying out the procedures pertinent to the operation of the mortuary.

Undertaking casework of a high profile or complicated nature will be necessary as will assisting the pathologist in post-mortems and forensic cases. Responsibility for the management of the health and safety policies applicable to the mortuary and participate in maintaining a comprehensive system of monitoring and reporting of performance against targets is essential. The candidate be able to work out of hours.

Minimum educational criteria for this post includes a Royal Institute of Public Health; Certificate and Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology. Experience of Forensic Examinations is also essential.

A full time vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to join our busy and friendly mortuary department as a Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician. You should be familiar with all aspects of mortuary business and be able to maintain the high standard of work expected. Wexham Park Hospital covers the East Berkshire area, dealing with around 2000 deaths and approximately 700 coroners post mortems annually.

Applications are invited from individuals who hold the Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology and have a minimum of 4 years post diploma experience. You will be expected to provide technical support, advice and consultancy to staff, bereaved relatives and healthcare professionals. You will also be responsible for the training of junior staff and exterior staff from multi-disciplinary teams.

You will be familiar with the Human Tissue Authority and Clinical Pathology Accreditation and be able to work toward maintaining both our licence and accreditation. There is a 24 hour on call service which you will take part in on a rota basis.
