Contributing to the work of your professional body

It is hoped that one of the strengths of the AAPT will be the extent to which APTs, whether or not they are Council members, freely devote time and effort to the professional body’s work.

The AAPT is  keen to ensure that it has a wide range APTs involved in all areas of its work.

During the beginning of the year, working group membership will be reviewed and new appointments made, traditionally working group membership has been wholly made up from within Council with additional members co-opted on for specific workstreams and AAPT are keen to expand on this.

Next year we are looking for volunteers for our representational working groups.

The main working groups of the Association are:

  • Conference planning
  • Education & Training including:
    • CPD scheme
    • Professional publications
    • Professional standards
  • Federation for Healthcare Science
  • Forensics
  • Human Tissue Act
  • Membership & professional representation
  • Regulation

If you are interested in contributing to the work of your professional body, please write to Christian Burt, AAPT Secretary (or email mail@aaptuk.org) indicating your preferred area(s) of interest and giving some indication of any relevant experience you have. You may wish first to contact the relevant working group lead by phoning the AAPT office on 020 7278 2151 to discuss the work in a particular area. A place on a particular working group cannot be guaranteed.
The Association is keen to ensure that, its working group membership reflects the diverse nature of the profession as a whole.

It would be particularly helpful to hear from volunteers by 11 January 2008.

James Lowell Chair-Elect
AAPT Council
