The 5th Annual Chief Scientific Officer´s Conference and CSO Awards
It gives me great pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to the 5th CSO Conference. With the NHS celebrating its sixtieth anniversary, this year´s CSO Conference will be highlighting the contribution of healthcare scientists to its success and looking forward to the science and challenges likely in the next sixty years.
I am delighted that this conference is now recognised as the key platform for promoting healthcare scientists and the part science plays in more effective healthcare delivery. This year´s event promises to be even better than last year. Hosted once again by science broadcaster Vivienne Parry, speakers include the Government´s Chief Scientific Advisor, Professor John Beddington, Dame Nancy Rothwell and 'Quirkologist' Professor Richard Wiseman, as well as senior DH officials and Ministers.
The CSO Awards, which this year include a number of new categories as well as the prestigious Healthcare Scientist of the Year will take place on the evening of 25th November. The categories and application form can be accessed at http://www.agoralive.com/nhs60. I recommend these are downloaded now to allow plenty of time for submission.
Topics for the programme include plenaries covering the Next Stage Review of the NHS, research and innovation, science futures and building a worldclass workforce as well as workshops and the opportunity to network. Further details are on the website now and will be updated on an ongoing basis. Registration details are also available now on the website, detailed below.
